Michelle Hardaway

Michelle is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 18 years of experience working with diverse communities in mental health agencies, schools, and in the community. Michelle has a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Sciences  and holds a Masters of Social Work. Michelle has worked with people of all ages, with a focus working with teens and young adults. She spent eight years in direct service and management positions supporting teen parents and youth in foster care. In addition, she spent three years working in culturally specific youth programs with Indigenous and Black communities. Over the last eight years, Michelle has been working as a High School Social Worker focusing on suicide prevention, crisis intervention, trauma-informed interventions, resource navigation, and program management. Michelle also teaches in the School of Social Work at PSU as an Adjunct Instructor in subjects like Social Justice, Ethics, and Seminar/Practicum.

One of Michelle’s greatest aspirations is to support the efforts of improving and diversifying the field of social work. Through her work as an OBLSW clinical supervisor, she enjoys supporting and challenging social workers on their licensure journey. She knows the need for expanding the definition and vision of a clinical social worker to meet the needs of all of our communities. Advocating for equity and inclusion is at the forefront of all of Michelle’s work. Michelle is passionate about intentional collaboration and truly believes in the importance of getting to know the whole person, agency, or community before creating plans and interventions. Michelle has a non-judgmental approach and recognizes there is always more we can learn from one another.
