About Me

Welcome! My name Is Miriam Saucedo. I have been a licensed professional counselor since 2017. I offer nature-based grief groups in Portland, OR. I am trans, queer and neurodivergent affirming. I approach our relationships with our bodies from a Health at Every Size (HAES) framework, which celebrates body diversity, intersecting identities, compassionate self-care, and challenges cultural assumptions about food and bodies. It is rooted within social justice and anti-oppression. I completed my ecotherapy certification with the Earthbody Institute and I have been facilitating nature based therapy and mindfulness practices over the last four years, including ecotherapy for grief. I personally experience an expansion of my awareness when I am mindfully present outdoors, allowing more space for my thoughts and feelings. This, in turn, helps me feel more present with myself and increases my ability to respond to my needs. I hope to offer a similar experience to you.

In addition to navigating my own experiences with grief, I have pursued additional training in grief therapy, and I currently serve as a hospice volunteer. I believe we all hold various types and weights of grief, and dominating U.S. culture does not always prioritize holding space for grief. As a therapist, I have worked in college/university and residential treatment (substance use and mental health) settings.

I am a white (Scandinavian, German and Croatian settler descent), cis woman (she/her). As a nature based therapist with these privileged identities, it is important for me to center the deep wound of colonialism: the forced removal and harm inflicted on Indigenous people, as well as a legacy of racism that attempts to separate Black and Indigenous communities from more-than-human relationships. These realities can significantly impact one's experience in natural spaces.I reside and work on the unceded land of the Multnomah, Atfalati, Clackamas, and many others.

Have questions? Email me at miriam@liminalleaftherapy.com

Participants will be invited to engage in facilitated ecotherapy experiences and discussions to integrate the wisdom of nature and themes offered by the seasons. This will offer a depth of exploration, alongside the practice of skills for navigating grief within the context of a supportive group. These skills provide guidance for responding to challenging thoughts and feelings, while holding space for and tending to grief.
